[edit] September 2007

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Sun, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. °≈§→ Robomaeyhem ←§≈° 00:45, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make any unconstructive edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant warnings.

[edit] Caps

Wikipedia's manual of style indicates when the earth, moon and sun should be capitalized (see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(capital_letters)#Celestial_bodies). This is fairly consistent with the rules elsewhere. Your edit also does not conform to the avoid self references guideline. While new users are not expected to know all the details of the style, please assume good faith in other people's edits. Also be aware that repeatedly reverting another user's edits may get you blocked (see the Three revert rule). Thanks, --TeaDrinker 00:56, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

I am following Wikipedia's MOS. I am merely stating that in American English, sun and moon are never capitalized. Don't you ever read American novels and textbooks?

First of all, Sol means Sun, so there is really only one solar system. Also, most articles have the name of the article, in bold, at the begining, in capitals, so there's no need for the comment. Ok? Finally, though your edits were in good faith, you were in violation of WP:3RR. You should discuss rather than just reverting if someone reverts your changes, ok? You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating the three-revert rule at [[:at Sun. Please be more careful to discuss controversial changes or seek dispute resolution rather than engaging in an edit war. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. - Philippe | Talk 00:58, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "I didn't know about the revert rule."

Decline reason: "That's not pertinent to the fact that you violated it. Remember, always discuss changes if someone reverts you rather than reverting them. —[[Animum | talk]] 01:03, 9 September 2007 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.

...not to mention that two people pointed it out to you on this very page. - Philippe | Talk 01:10, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Um... the user's last revert was at :56, and the two mentions of the 3RR were at :56 and :58 respectively... I don't think he knew about it before his last revert. Gscshoyru 01:14, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

And I'm supposed to know exactly when, at all times, when I have a new message? I was only informed just now that I had new messages. Also, just look up the terms in any American dictionary. Webster's definition of solar system: "the sun and all the heavenly bodies that revove around it."

Definition of sun: "1. a) the self-luminous, gaseous sphere about which the earth and other planets revolve and which furnishes light, heat, and energy for the solar system: it is the star nearest the earth, whose mean distance from it is nearly 93,000,000 miles: its diameter is about 864,000 miles; its mass is about 333,400 times, and its volume more than 1,300,000 times, that of the earth  b) the heat or light of the sun [to lie in the sun]  2. any star that is the center of a planetary system  3. something like the sun, as in warmth, brilliance, splendor, etc.  4. [Poet.]  a) a day  b) a year  5. [Poet.] a clime; climate  6. [Archaic] sunrise or sunset."

Notice especially the definition of the sun under 2. The definition of sun is ambiguous, like a lot of the English language, and should be mentioned in the sun and solar system articles, which is what I was doing. Excluding that information is an example of Wikipedia's bias.

Definition of moon: "1. the heavenly body that revolves around the earth from west to east once in c. 27 1/3 days with reference to the stars or once in c. 29 1/2 days with reference to the sun, and that accompanies the earth in its yearly revolution about the sun, reflecting the sun's light: the moon's diameter is is c. 2,160 miles, its mean distance from the earth is c. 238,857 miles, its mean density is c. 3/5 of the earth, its mass is c. 1/81, and its volume c. 1/49  2. this body as it appears during a particular lunar month or period of time, or at a particular time of the month: see NEW MOON, HALF-MOON, FULL MOON, OLD MOON, FIST QUARTER, LAST QUARTER  3. a month; esp., a lunar month  4. same as MOONLIGHT  5. anything shaped like the moon (i.e., an orb or crescent)  6. any satellite of a planet."

Also notice how neither sun nor moon are capitalized in this American English dictionary. If it was somewhat common to capitalize them in American English, it would have said something like "[often cap.]" If it was only supposed to be capitalized in American English, it would have said something like "[cap.]."

[edit] Unblock

You're unblocked now... Evidentially this convinced him to unblock. But your next violation will get you blocked, Ok? Gscshoyru 01:20, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 01:56, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
