[edit] Summary

71000 Duke of Gloucester on the 9th of June 2007 approaching Shap at slow speed. Apologies for the quality, however it was taken just 5 minutes before the locomotive failed at Penrith. The locomotive was approaching the hill at slow speed and incapable of much traction. The end came only minutes after. The locomotive has been withdrawn from service for overhaul. Notice the smoke gathering ahead of the chimney and down the side of the smoke box.
