World Chess Federation
The World Chess Federation is being illegally used by FIDE. The World Chess Federation is an international tradename of the World Chess Federation, Inc a Las vegas Nevada corporation The name may not be used by FIDE without our permission. Redirects of WCF page to FIDE are vandalism —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.189.138.115 (talk • contribs)
- I'm not an expert on trademarks and that dispute, but I'm pretty sure that going through and deleting the article is not the way to remedy the situation (because people will frankly revert it). If this is a copyright issue (like the text of the article is a copyright violation), then there are ways to remedy that situation. From what it sounds like, WCF and FIDE are two different organizations. If this is the case, then it can easily be fixed. You can edit the World Chess Federation page here. Please let me know if you have any more questions. (And may I suggest that you create a username as well) -- MicahMN | μ 02:25, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- Please stop deleting that content. I recommend that you go to the link in my statement above and create an article for the World Chess Federation. It will no longer redirect to the FIDE. Blanking out the FIDE page will only upset wikipedia people and probably get you blocked. -- MicahMN | μ 02:30, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
Thank you. But FIDE is also illegally using a tradmarked protected name, World Chess Federation and that needs to be deleted from any and all edits of FIDE page
Any and all users except 70.189.138.115 need to be blocked from editing the World Chess Federation, Inc page. No other organization, especially a competitor such as FIDE, may use the WCF name without express written authorization. Therefore any and all pages by FIDE using our WCF tradmarked name without our permission should be deleted.
- Sorry, can't help you there. We can't allow you to blank the page either. I'd suggest talking about it on the FIDE talk page or providing some sort of documentation showing that FIDE does not own that name and that your organization does. -- MicahMN | μ
Documentation is on file with the Secretary of State, Dean Heller, State Department,202 North carson Street, Carson City State of Nevada all filings, documentations etc can be viewed by accessing the Secretary of State's corporate filings pages.
- This sounds like a fight between your company and FIDE. I can't speak for Wikipedia, but I'm doubting they will get involved. Just because you may or may not own the copyright to an organization does not mean that you can control what the wikipedia article says. Judging from the information on the American Chess Association page (which I reverted), I see no reason at all why the FIDE page should be blanked. I'm expecting others will look into this, but I think we may have to put up a disambiguation link to the FIDE on the World Chess Federation article that you made. Please let me know if you want help getting contact information for people at wikipedia. -- MicahMN | μ 02:58, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for the help and reversions Please note copyrights are not the same as trademarks. A trademark prevents a company like Pepsi from calling itself Coca Cola. FIDE may not use the WCF tradename and trademarks, and Wikipedia does not have WCF permission to allow unauthorized use of a tradename to be used on its pages. This is no different than if the Canadian Football League started trying to call itself the NFL.
- I understand that. What I'm saying that this is not an issue that should be (or is going to be) resolved on Wikipedia. From what I've been reading about this, it really seems like the law is not on your side.(Sam Slaon is a convicted felon, the law is on on side most of his stuff is simply lies) Again, I'm no expert and I don't speak for wikipedia, but I'd advise you to stop blanking pages, or an admin will block you.
Micahm, your reversion put back up vandalizing pages back on at ACA The reversion should be back to March 22, 2005 pages. What you put back up is pages by vandalizers calling ACA, Inc bogus, etc
- That's right, and it isn't vandalism, it is an article with a different point of view than your own. It probably should be written in a better way (with a neutral point of view), but you cannot censor it. -- MicahMN | μ 03:08, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
IDENTITY THEFT IS A CRIME
- I don't understand what you are talking about with identity theft. Even if Mr. Sloan is an ex-con, what are you implying about him? That he's a liar?-- MicahMN | μ 03:49, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
A suggestion
Please stop blanking articles immediatly because it will lead to being blocked. I recommend instead to explain your position on User talk:Jimbo Wales. He's the founder of wikipedia, and he has the final word on these sorts of things.
If you continue to insist on blanking articles, you will be banned. This is your final warning. -- MicahMN | μ 03:11, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- Your accusation about Sam Sloan is ridiculous. One more will get you blocked under WP:NPA. NSLE (T+C+CVU) 04:04, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
