Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but you may wish to create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits. For one thing, if you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome! [edit] Edit Summary Request

I have noted that you edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky or even vandalizing. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! -- Kukini hablame aqui 07:07, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Response

It is true that I don't put an edit summary if I am changing punctuation, adding people, or changing wording. That's because the work is in great flux at the moment, as I wade through the Punahou Alumni Directory from 1991 (I am at the very end of the "R"'s, so it should be very stable soon). At that point, I agree that all decisions need documentation. In fact, many decisions as to what and whom to include or exclude deserve comment, but there are so many decision to make at the moment. The main objective is brevity, believe it or not, even though it seems I am going for a comprehensive list. I doubt very much it will be comprehensive at any time. I suspect that there will be some nasty disagreements as people start hacking away at it with their own standards. Since it has been largely my authoring so far (I am also User:Ronaldloui, just using a second computer), I have been able to fix the standards for inclusion. As these evolve, edit summaries will no doubt be incredibly valuable, as you point out. I will however, log this machine into my account so it is clear that this IP address is the same person. 70.143.28.220 07:28, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
