[edit] Spies (novel)
Thanks for your work here, but I think the Wikilinking is a bit OTT. Have a look here to see why. I've left Michael Frayn linked, because people might come to this article before his, but it really makes no sense to link "2002", "British" & "author" that close together because it may sensibly be assumed that anyone can read an encyclopedia will understand those terms. --Rodhullandemu (please reply here - contribs) 19:58, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] The Perfect Murder (short story)
I saw you had created a page about this story under the title "Jeffrey Archer short story". Because that title could refer to dozens of different short stories, i renamed it as in the above heading. Also, I added a link to your page in the disambiguation page Perfect Murder. Hope that makes sense! Tt 225 (talk) 19:20, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Making History
Your edits to the Making History page have been reversed. The restored version, while not ideal (the Johnson album should be renamed), is in accordance with the relevant sections of the Wikipedia Manual of Style. Your versions (particularly the last one) were not. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:52, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- There's no question of defacing involved! However, the rules on disambiguation pages are pretty stringent. There should be no piping, except as necessary to do things like keep book and record titles italicized; there should be exactly one active wikilink per item being disambiguated; etc. By contrast, your edits created as many as five active links for a single item being disambiguated.--Orange Mike | Talk 20:13, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Signature and posting
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button
located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! Also, please remember that posts to talk pages go on the bottom, not the top, of the page; and responses should go beneath those, indented with
- a leading colon, as I used here. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:23, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] J. D. Salinger
Hello there, and thanks for your edits of J. D. Salinger. However, I'd encourage you to remove the wikilinks you added to words like author and novel. Overlinking can be a problem, and in the case of the lead, link density is an important consideration. If you have any questions, let me know. Cheers! – Scartol • Tok 13:54, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] January 2008
Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary. Thank you. —dgiestc 20:46, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- P.S. Regarding you having edit conflicts when people add a stub template to your article. You can minimize this by adding {{Inuse}} before you make your big edits. And if someone does save, hit the back button and copy your text from the edit window so you can re-add it to the latest revision. Hope this helps. —dgiestc 20:52, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Wikisource boxes
Just wanted to help you out regarding Wikisource boxes. Typically, it's not a good idea to split a section of prose with a template or an image unless it's specifically relevant to a single line of text within that prose (if I'm wrong, a fellow editor should correct me). That's why it's best to put a Wikisource box or an image at the top of a section or subsection. If you're moving just because it doesn't display well, remember that every user's display will be a little different so edits based on your preference aren't a good idea. Anyway, the best spot for a wikisource box is (it seems) under External links. Also, please please please remember to use a helpful and informative edit summary when updating an article. It helps those of us that keep a close watch on articles, especially those articles with a tendency to be vandalized. --Midnightdreary (talk) 19:20, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- You may also want to read WP:OVERLINK and WP:DATES. It's not always helpful wikifying things, especially when they do not add context to the article or are just linking to redirects. I would also implore you again to include edit summaries. I hope you take a moment to learn more about Wikipedia; it'll make your edits more constructive and less likely to be reverted. If you need help, start asking around! --Midnightdreary (talk) 23:28, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Miggs (character)
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Miggs (character), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Miggs (character). [edit] AfD nomination of Miggs (character)

[edit] D. Ross Macdonald
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of D. Ross Macdonald, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.waterybeds.com/ross-macdonald/2007/12/25. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 15:28, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Marilyn Monroe
I have once again removed the link to icon in the Marilyn Monroe article. The article icon says that it is about religious artifacts. Marilyn Monroe is not a religious artifact and her article should not be linked to the icon article. Can you please provide some explanation as to why you believe it should be linked? [edit] Speedy deletion of Julian Bending
A tag has been placed on Julian Bending requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Booglamay (talk) 22:14, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Buc (talk) 19:38, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Cozy (genre) maintenance tags
Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Cozy (genre), without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. --DAJF (talk) 23:16, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
