Wikipedia is not a place to link to your website, unless it is relevant, useful, and popular. Not your brand new forums that nobody's ever heard of. For example, I do not link to my NASCAR blog (which I only started a couple days ago) in any NASCAR articles. If you do wish to place a link to your website, you may do so in your user page. Despite all this, I wish you luck getting your forum up and more popular. And c'mon now, sign up, and contribute to Wikipedia. It's fun :-) -- SonicAD (talk) 03:07, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Read WP:EL, which covers requirements for external links. While these are not policies, they are guidelines that everyone should follow, including you. You're violating two of them (covered under the heading "Links to normally avoid":
- Links that are added to promote a site.
- A website that you own or maintain (unless it is the official site of the subject of the article). If it is relevant and informative, mention it as a possible link on the talk page and wait for someone else to include it, or include the information directly in the article.
I'm not biased in this at all, I'm trying to ensure that the guidelines are followed properly. You have a new NASCAR forums site that could very well be a great resource in the future, however it doesn't currently have anything to merit inclusion. If it becomes very popular, then you can consider suggesting inclusion on the talk page of relevant articles. For now, put the link on your user page if you'd like, and try to get the word out elsewhere. If it's a good forum, then the people will come. -- SonicAD (talk) 05:40, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
In addition, I should also note that if you can link to your site, everybody who has their own NASCAR website would have just as much right. My brand new, "I don't know why anyone would care to read it" blog would deserve to be linked to. I just removed a link to a different forum from the NASCAR page, for much the same reason as yours. It's nothing personal against you or your website, it's a choice of what has the most relevance and/or is used in the article for reference. -- SonicAD (talk) 06:01, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
try following your own advice there are some similar sites there which you are leaving which would leave me to believe you have a vested interest, you are not the police get a life
[edit] External Links
Ditto the above statement. Fan forums can be a great source for information, but it does not meet encyclopedic standards. To add your link, please discuss it on the talk page. TKE 06:36, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
look you're an 18 year old punk whod oes know his ass from his elbow. I live eat and breath nascar. You have zero right to judge one website over another nor do you seem to understand the purpose of a community forum to allow voices to be heard in an industry. There are other community oriented sites cited as external links in virutally every aspect of this wikipedia. Get a clue
- You're quite wrong in that part, as I'm trying do things properly, and do it without resorting to insults. You're making a lot of assumptions, try looking at it from a neutral point of view, which is probably the cornerstone policy of Wikipedia. Yes, I am judging whether your website is "worthy" of being in the article, but that's different than what I'd think about it myself. Indeed, I would be happy to join and take part in conversation, were you not so antagonistic. And as I pointed out earlier, per WP:EL you shouldn't post a link to your own website. That's not my guideline, that's Wikipedia's. And calling me a punk because I'm an 18 year old who disagrees with you? Don't judge on age, judge on actions. My actions aren't agains you, they're for Wikipedia. -- SonicAD (talk) 07:00, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy: There is no excuse for personal attacks on other contributors. Do not make them. Comment on content, not on the contributor; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that you may be blocked for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. [edit] 3RR violation warning
Your re-addition of your link to the NASCAR pages, apart from being seen as spamming by other users, violates WP:3RR. Please read up on this policy before doing any more editing whatsoever, as it's a blocking matter. In other words, the next time you repeat what amounts to the same edit to any one page more than 3 times in 24 hours, I will block you from editing. Bishonen | ノート 08:22, 3 March 2006 (UTC).
You have been temporarily blocked for violation of the three-revert rule. Please feel free to return after the block expires, but also please make an effort to discuss your changes further in the future. Note that you made 5 reverts on the NASCAR article within 24 hrs, which is not allowed per Wikipedia policy. It could also be considered a spamming violation, since you are repeatingly adding link to websites/forums that you created. --Madchester 15:50, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
