Ezhavas are Dalits because "Its a known fact that ezhavas were never part of any varnas" and the definition of Dalit is ""In the Indian caste system, a Dalit, often called an untouchable, or an outcaste, is a person who according to traditional Hindu belief does not have any "varnas"". The Ezhava community will try to downplay their official Dalit status as Nair will downplay their Sudra status, though not all Nairs were Sudras mind you. However if the Nairs are referred to in the article as "Malayali Sudra Nairs" then the Ezhavas should be referred to as the Malayali Dalit Ezhavas. They are both facts despite Ezhavas generally belonging in the Sudra or Vaishya varnas and the Nairs the Kshatriya varna by profession. I hope this is clear enough for you so please do not revert further edits considering Ezhavas Dalit status. Thank you.B Nambiar 04:12, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
