[edit] My feelings on April Fool's and Wikipedia

It's a state of uncertainty and bewilderment. While I can certainly understand why some people want to treat Wikipedia as serious all the time (after all, even one day of buffoonery can have its lasting effects), I really wish people would be allowed to pull clever pranks without recourse. A one day lifting of the usual ban on good humor. People getting warned for joke edits on April Fool's seems... wrong. Hell, I got warned twice today and blocked once, and it was all harmless really. Once was archiving my own talk page. The other time was a harmless unblock request. Wikipedia is a serious project, but its members (especially those that have given a lot to the project) should be allowed to have fun at least once year. Please.

This short bit won't change a damn thing, but it was worth writing. Just don't ask me why.
