User talk:68.115.14.18

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I got A's throughout college in English, so I think of myself as a good writer. I would like to create an account to put my skills to good use. When I click on Sign in / create account, it has a log in option, but not an option to create an account. I've been trying to find a way around that for about an hour now and I've come up short.

After about thirty clicks on help and FAQ pages with no information that could help me create an account, I came to a volunteer help desk that said, "Click here to ask your question." I clicked there and it said "Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing. You were blocked by Jayjg for the following reason (see our blocking policy): "Zephram Stark" Your IP address is 68.115.14.18." It then gave me a hyperlink to a place to create my user page and told me to put "{{unblock}}" on it with my IP address and username. I don't have a user name because I can't figure out how to create an account.

If anybody is reading this, please tell me how one goes about becoming a writer here.

Ah! Gee whiz, I know just how you feel! The problem is that you have been blocked. Whe someone is blocked, they can't create a new account for fear they might try to create an army of sock puppets. As accounts can't be deleted, etc etc etc. Anyway, check Special:Ipblocklist to see if you've only been blocked for a day or two, or indefinitely. If the latter, you're screwed. But you can wait it out, and after your block is up, you can create a new account. See the guidelines and crap before you edit though. I'm terribly sorry that you have been given a bad first impression of Wikipedia. Good luck with your writing! Flameviper12 14:39, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Oh, by the way, 68.115.14.18, you aren't on the block list...are you still blocked? I don't think you are...Flameviper12 22:32, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
