What are they?

- No, I meant to do that... The picture glorified the American side and talked about Roosevelt becoming a national hero. NPOV anyone?
[edit] Unsourced statements
You've been adding a lot of unsourced statements. Please cite your sources when adding material to Wikipedia. --Chris (talk) 05:08, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- Please provide a source for the allegation that someone has been adding unsourced statements from this IP.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.181.63.245 (talk • contribs)
I (the person leaving this particular comment) have already begun doing so, but I can't help sharing an IP, so hopefully it will stop. --67.181.63.245 19:12, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Community areas of Chicago
You changed the number of areas to 69, from 77. I count 77. The change has been reverted. --Chris (talk) 05:10, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Invalid merges
Articles should not be merged without discussion, and merging never just means creating redirects without moving the actual contents of the page in question. Please see the policy on merging before continuing; wholesale removal of content from Wikipedia without discussion and consensus may be considered vandalism. Thank you, and happy editing. Kafziel 12:41, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- stop making invalid merges they are violating gfdl use the talk page first -- you have been warned once already Yuckfoo 23:48, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- What are you talking about, how else am I supposed to merge those particular pages. 67.181.63.245 23:50, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
I have no idea what this is talking about.
- Why is there a pic of manbearpig here?

- That looks like a legitimate name for it if buggery is listed as well, since the area containing buggery states that they're intentionally malicious names.
[edit] James Bond
Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to James Bond. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. } — RevRagnarok Talk Contrib 21:03, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- As I explained several times (but they were removed from this talk page), Sean Connery -is- known in fan circles as the king of bonds, and so on for the other nicknames. Therefore this template is moot.
Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to Template:Wrongtitle, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Tyrenius 00:57, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Please stop. If you wish to make your own conversation space, start a new topic.
[edit] Do NOT remove warnings
Please do not remove warnings from your talk page or replace them with offensive content. Removing or maliciously altering warnings from your talk page will not remove them from the page history. If you continue to remove or vandalize warnings from your talk page, you will lose your privilege of editing your talk page. Thanks. — RevRagnarok Talk Contrib 11:18, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Then do NOT remove my replies.
[edit] Democracy edit
I removed the addition of a paragraph to the Democracy article (diff) from this IP address for a second time. Not only does it not seem appropriate to the article, but contributions of this sort from anon IPs, with no edit summaries and no discussion, tend not to be taken seriously. - David Oberst 01:39, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to Mosque, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. BhaiSaab talk 05:55, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
This is your last warning. Removing warnings from your talk page is considered vandalism. You will be blocked from editing Wikipedia and your talk page will be protected from editing if you do it again. BhaiSaab talk 06:00, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- You're free to insert your replies, but do not remove the warnings. BhaiSaab talk 06:04, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Edits to BBC
Two things, firstly I deliberately (but temporarily) removed the criticism section from the visible article but kept the text as I, and at least one other editor are working on developing a fully sourced criticism section, and wanted to keep the text to work on a future version. I thought the note I left was fairly unambiguous: "please don't restore it until every "some say" type statement is referenced with somebody actually saying it", yet you promptly deleted the entire text and replaced it with a paragraph starting with "The BBC has been accused of having a liberal bias, or of being pro-Tony Blair, by some conservatives." yet without a single reference to any conservative saying any such thing. Additionally, you changed the "See also" link to British television to Television in the United Kingdom, even though Television in the United Kingdom is a redirect to British television, which seems a strange edit to me. I've reverted your edits, then, but kept the text you added to the (currently hidden and work in progress) criticism section. In future please avoid using weasel words, and rather than using the from "x has been criticised by some y for being z" use the form "x has been criticised for being z, most notably by y" where y is an actual person or organisation who said such a thing. And make sure that you cite your source correctly. If you've got any questions or complaints feel free to raise them on my talk page. --Daduzi talk 02:22, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, sorry, point taken. I thought you meant to take that stuff out of the article.
[edit] Tour de France
>Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Tour de France. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox.
- As I said, no one had heard of it before him.
- Sentence doesn't make any sense in that context
- The Tour de France. I added that Lance Armstrong helped make it a household name.
- Sentence doesn't make any sense in that context
- Please do not remove messages from your talk page. Talk pages exist as a record of communication, and in any case, comments are available through the page history. You're welcome to archive your talk page, but be sure to provide a link to any deleted comments. Thanks.
- But the person who added the message didn't know what he was talking about. Also, I replaced the fair use pic with a GFDL one from Wikimedia Commons.
- Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's NPOV policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, as you did to Fernando Torres, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Furthermore, reinserting the same commentary multiple times may cause you to violate the three-revert rule, which can lead to a block.
- Talk to me like a man, don't just use template messages. I replaced the fair use pic with GFDL commons pic, that is not nonsense. But he is sexy you must admit.
- Please stop. If you continue to blank or remove content from Wikipedia, as you did to Five Characters in Search of an Exit (The Twilight Zone), you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
- I didn't mean to do that actually, sorry. See new change for what I was aiming for. My mistake.

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to Portal:Current events/2006 July 28, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
- Yeah, how bout you stop that considering most of the other charges were unfounded. You only wanted to use that one because of the pic of William Hung I added. Besides which I added the comment in HTML comments to let other people know that the news item in question was US-centric, so it's not even vandalism. Talk to the hand, hater.

[edit] Fair Use
Please see Wikipedia:Fair use - It's all to do with copyrights. You can't use that image unless it's on a page about the image subject. Also, adding images to a shared IP address talk page may result in the image being removed as potential vandalism - just a warning! Try signing up for an account! HawkerTyphoon 19:09, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Shared talk page
Please don't place fair use images on talk pages. For starters this is a shared talk page that moves from user to user. More important, fair use images are not valid for use on articles (not to mention talk pages) that are not specifically concerned with the subject of the photo. Thanks. Rx StrangeLove 19:11, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- I was typing this as a response to the other guy when you left your message: That's fine, but I doubt it would be removed as vandalism when there's already a fair use pic in use (Manbearpig) and has been for a while. But point taken. I do not believe in creating accounts though as it jeopardizes my privacy. In any case if other users want to move the images that's fine with it - it is a wiki after all.
- Please just stop being a troublemaker. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 19:13, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- I don't care if you create a account, but please stop putting fair use images on talk pages. -manbearpig- is an article and fair use images are used on articles all the time, but they have to meet certain conditions. On articles, it can be contentious but on talk pages it's pretty clear cut. They just are not allowed....anyway, thanks. Rx StrangeLove 19:19, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know that, and I'm the one who REMOVED the picture of Manbearpig... Not sure why you're reminding me it's not allowed.
(last warning....now it is vandalism. I'll block if you do this one more time) Rx StrangeLove 19:19, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Blanking
Now your blanking sections, please discuss on the talk page of the article if you want to remove large amounts of material. I'll assume good faith here, but please don't remove material without talking about it first, thanks! Rx StrangeLove 19:28, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spelling
Advice: English dialects on Wikipedia: Wikipedia has millions of readers; some use American English, or British English, or International English, or any of numerous other local forms from Australia, Canada, Ireland etc. Because of this, Wikipedia has a policy of respecting articles written in whatever form of English the original author of the article used.
The guidelines are simple. For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.
In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, just ask anyone on Wikipedia and they will help you. Enjoy your time on the internet's fastest growing encyclopædia/encyclopedia
. Thank you. --Pilotguy (roger that) 01:49, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- How can I make Word stop changing things automatically? :-\ I wasn't trying to Americanize anything.
[edit] Chromatophore
While your edits are the Featured Article look helpful, you have actually removed several inline citations. Please, if you feel that the spelling should be changed then do so, but do not remove references. Ryūlóng 01:49, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, I was editing it in Word and must have gotten something mixed up. I wasn't trying to remove anything. And the spelling was probably automatic if you mean the "colour" vs" color".
-
- If you don't want to edit text in the text box on Wikipedia, I recommend you use Wordpad, which comes with Windows. Word does a lot of automatic things to format text that don't work well with Wikipedia. —Centrx→talk • 02:02, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- The problem is it doesn't have a spellchecker or grammar assistant. On the other hand we have Word, where the settings are where I think the auto-changes are coming from.
- Best place for this question is on Wikipedia:Reference desk/Computing, these people will be able to help you better than the helpme folks. Thanks! —— Eagle (ask me for help) 02:07, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- You might also find it useful to Create an account. Two specific advantages you might find useful are the ability to use Wikipedia scripts, which among other things have spell check, and it will distinguish you from the other people who use this IP and prevent you from receiving warnings or getting blocked when they do vandalistic edits. See also Wikipedia:Why create an account?. —Centrx→talk • 02:09, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- Indeed, Word does not translate into wiki; it has different tab settings in the copy and paste. Use WordPad and proof. I proof, and I still misspell. Teke 02:14, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] August 2006
[edit] Blocked
- Fine, then YOU change it from archeological to archaeological and re-add the note about the two languages.
- Also, please add a public domain tag to Image:Omd1.gif as it is an ancient symbol ineligible
for copyright.
- Is anyone listening to this? I don't believe I received due process prior to the block.

You were blocked; however, blocked users can still edit their talk pages - see here as an example.
If you request an unblock, please give a reason, like: {{unblock|Reason}} and that makes it much easier.
If/when you're unblocked, leave a message on my talk page here and I'll offer to help you, OK? --TheM62Manchester 09:47, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- This may have less to do with the IP factor and more to do with the dorm factor since that's where I'm connecting from. And thanks for the offer.
[edit] Fernando Torres
I saw that you changed the photo on the Fernando Torres page. Firstly, you did not cite a reason why, nor did you cite that you changed the photo. Secondly, that photo is copyright protected, violating Wikipedia rules. Make sure you read the rules before posting. Thanks!--Ealgian 16:10, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Ealgian
[edit] Re: Warning
- Umm, what are you talking about? Please indicate what vandalism you're referring to; as I said, the removal of the content from La Raza was to put it on the proper disambiguation page.
I thought you were blanking a page, but now, it looks like you were moving items for disambiguation for La Raza. I TOOK OFF YOUR WARNING, but next time please register for an account in order for other patrollers not to block you, because this address has been banned in the past. --Bearly541 11:02, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Add the information to Augustus, not Dan Quayle due to pereserving neutrality. This is the last message that I will respond to regarding the matter. End of discussion.--Bearly541 20:43, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi. I ran across your edit to Dan Quayle regarding Civilization IV. I agree that it is absolutely inappropriate in the lead section, but may I suggest that you create a section near the end of the article called "Trivia" or "Cultural References" or something like that, and place your addition there. JimmB 02:46, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Flag of Libya.
