Please note this comment in the article:
- "Do not add your own name or people without Wikipedia articles to this list. No red links, please."
The day of the year pages are for notable people who have biographical articles on Wikipedia. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 03:02, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- "What are the criteria for notable people. Also, why are you the one who gets to make that choice, certainly there are people who are notable, no matter what definition is used, that you're not going to be aware of. I can't thank you enough for the time and effort that you put into making this site such an amazing resource, but I think that you may be unfairly deleting my additions."
If it hadn't been me, someone else would have removed your entry from May 25. Actually, the criteria for those pages is very simple: Anyone who already has a legitimate Wikipedia article is entitled to be listed under Births (and Deaths) on those pages. The Events section is much more restrictive; we limit it to events of global historical significance (which is something of a judgment call, but it's usually pretty clear). There is currently no Wikipedia article for a Walter Biggart born on May 25, 1976, so the entry is deleted on sight from that page. The criteria for having a biographical article on Wikipedia are described here: WP:BIO. Let me know if that helps; feel free to ask if you have any other questions. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 03:14, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] An Automated Message from HagermanBot
Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button
located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 03:20, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
Here are some other hints and tips:
- I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
- When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.
If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my Talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome!
Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 03:23, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
