If it is a judgment call and you prefer not to use the somewhat more accurate few and many description I suggested, I might then suggest taking the sentence out altogether as it is either a bland statement or the preferred spin of the NRA in despite of the fact that they endorse the Republican in well over 80% of the federal cases according to a study I saw. I think it is the later.

This article is really about LaPierre himself not the NRA in general so perhaps it is not necessary by that standard either.

I am not aware of Mr LaPierre personally campaigning for any Democrats. Are you? I am aware of his promenient appearance at dozens of Republican national and regional events and fundraisers.
