[edit] Longevity articles

Who are you and why do you insist on making hash out of the longevity-related articles?(A Canadian Prime Minister born in 1929 does not need to be listed as living 1767-1848,when there was no such office,by the way). Christian Mortensen is not just the oldest undisputed man,but the oldest widely accepted one;even the man who brought Izumi to the attention of Guinness became skeptical of Izumi's claim.Robert and I have our disagreements, but we agree on the generally unhelpful nature of your edits.--Louis Epstein/le@put.com/12.144.5.2 03:13, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

And further...the definitely doubtful Thomas Peters was NOT from Groningen, which is G.A. Boomgaard's hometown.Whatever possessed you to write that Peters came from there?--Louis E./le@put.com/12.144.5.2 03:15, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

Mr., If you would choose to not be anonymous, sign in with a real name, and communicate with others, your edits would stand a better chance of surviving editorial deletes. Also, please cite sources.

Just wondering: who is Sam Mason? What evidence is there that he is still alive at age 110? Do you have any articles?

Nothing - it was my older brother who was joking around, thinking that he was the oldest man in Canada. The oldest man in Canada is 108...having himself down as the oldest man in Canada was sheer stupidity.

OK, Finally some movement in the right direction. Remember,Wikipedia is a "community" of users. Learning to give/take and explain your position will get you further in the long run.

so, Mr. Mason, some issues to discuss:

1. Ann Pouder/Elizabeth Bolden photo: why don't you put the Elizabeth Bolden photo on "living national longevity recordholders," since that's what she is. For "supercentenarians," the article has been criticized as being a coined term, too new a field, etc. Showing that "National Geographic" was interested in supercentenarians in 1917 is really a good reason to have Ann Pouder's photo there. Also, there is still a lot of old research that needs to be recovered, and Ann Pouder symbolizes that.

2. 109-year-olds on the "supercentenarian" page: please, NO 109-year-olds on the supercentenarians page. If they are going to turn 110, we'll add them when they turn 110. Part of Wikirules is no future predictions. We don't know if Antonio Pierro will make 110 or not in Feb. 2006. Further, you are presuming too much...what if I have other male cases born in 1895 that you don't know about? Which I do, since I'm the contact person for supercentenarians at the GRG, the moderator for "World's Oldest People," etc. You would do far more to try to work with others in the long run, since ultimately attempting to maintain these lists are group efforts.

3. You need to develop an identity and realize that you are not the only person here; respect other's viewpoints and don't engage in an edit war unless you've first discussed the matter with someone else. Why not start a user page? Ryoung122 07:38, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Another idea, since you like to edit a lot, why not import some more tables (such as Guinness records for the oldest pig, bird, etc) into this article

Lifespan and cross-link it with Longevity and Life expectancy. Additionally, we need a Longevity Claims article separate from Longevity Myths. Longevity Myths is meant to explain the history of the mythology, with examples of "debunked" cases. Longevity Claims would be for cases that are not verified, but have news reportage and are not extreme...for example, Maria Strelnikova of Russia and Pawel Parniak of Poland. If you do this and cooperate, I'll share some of the information I have on this field...I do have HUNDREDS of cases. Also, Longevity claims needs to explain the problems with documenting ages, and also how some cases have "some" records, but not enough for official Guinness acceptance. Some may be validated later...for example, Flossie Page of Kansas (born June 1893), said to be 112. Ryoung122 08:05, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

I will no longer be posting any more edits to do with Longevity. I understand what you are saying and will consider developing an identity and user page in the future. Thank you for taking the time to explain things to me. 65.95.9.170 00:44, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

The list was also under the title "List of Best Actor winners by longevity". -- User:Docu

[edit] Stats

Hi,

In case you're still around, at List of countries by centenarian population I marked the article as not having sufficient citations / references. Could you cite the source from which you found the numbers in the table?
