Surpringly, mangojuice is not my real name. I'm not an expert on Canadian copyright law, but I do know that if there's some kind of copyright violation, it's not taking place HERE, because we aren't reprinting anything, just linking to somewhere else. Mangojuicetalk 19:43, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Not guessing anything. If there's a copyright violation, it's being committed by www.warrenkinsella.com. They're the ones publishing the post article, not Wikipedia. Are you saying that you intend to pursue legal action against Wikipedia for including this link? Mangojuicetalk 19:52, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
You've got a good point. Here's why I'm not so worried. First of all, the Wikimedia corporation (that runs Wikipedia) is based in the United States, and has its own legal team. Now maybe Canadian copyright law is different in some critical way, but it doesn't really matter: Wikimedia is in the US and so they can only be touched by US copyright law (and by extension, international copyright law that the US recognizes). Wikipedia, as a concept, is just incapable of avoiding all copyright violations... if this gets Wikimedia sued into the ground by someone, so be it, it's inevitable, and it would be too bad. The best Wikipedia can do is excercise due diligence: that is, to have good procedures and methods for removing copyright violations as quickly as possible. I think our procedures are pretty good, actually, and they're backed up by some users at the top that actually work for Wikimedia who are empowered to basically do whatever they want, alter policy, et cetera, if they need to in order to protect the enterprise. I think a much more worrisome concern is libel, frankly; it's a lot harder to avoid and detect and is more damaging to the victim.
Okay, that said, be civil and refrain from making personal attacks against editors you have a problem with. Mangojuicetalk 20:53, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
I think we should be more polite to Administrators. CrazyRussian is an Admin person, and he has the power to censure non Wiki sanctioned behaviour. I think it is not wise to get on an admins bad side. :) Please do not question his manners on Wikipedia, he is after all an administrator. Have a happy Wiki day. :) Pete Peters 23:39, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
What an obsequious little shit. Arthur Ellis 23:48, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
=+ Geez, I checked out that "obsequious" Mr. Bourrie (aka Magma IP's, Ceraurus, Isoletus, Arthur Ellis and Marie Tessier) that's really unflattering. However, Mark you have proven to the admins that anything less than full protection is useless on the pages which you covet:Rachel Marsden, Warren Kinsella, Pierre Bourque and of course Elizabeth May.
All that attention on Pierre Bourque's wiki page, just because he quietly dropped you from the pundit list on his website. Your inflated ego just couldn't take it.

So which is, Dourque? Are you a Black, a woman or a Hispanic? Or do asshole sons of tax cheats qualify as an under-represented minority on NASCAR?
