[edit] New Orleans edits

Thanks for your message on my talk page. Sorry I didn't explain my revert. (In my defense, I've seen a fair number of anon editors pop by and make an edit or a few and then they aren't seen again, so I'm somewhat less inclined to spend time explaining to anons who I don't know if they'll ever see my words. In a related topic, if you think you might stick around Wikipedia a bit, I encourage you to chose a user name and log in.) I reverted as the Houston/NOLA evacuees crime seems complicated and is sometimes caricatured to advance POVs, especially the "all New Orleanians are criminals" stereotype. I've read that some versions of the Houston statstics include New Orleanians who are victims of crime as part of the "New Orleans evacuee crime problem" -- a good number of displaced people wound up in bad neighborhoods of Houston where they are preyed on by local criminals, but are counted as if they are criminals themselves. If we're going to go into the topic, I think some detailed references and discussion is merited. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 16:22, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
