Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my Talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. SalaSkan 23:09, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

  • At least you didn't welcome me with a template. My IP will change from time to time due to my cheap DSL internet access. I will NOT get an account if it's at all avoidable, I like being anonymous. But I intend to be a good user of Wikipedia who doesn't vandalize and reverts vandalism, as well as making good edits. 63.224.202.1 17:27, 30 June 2007 (UTC) (although I might not be 63.224.202.1 for long due to my IP changing...)
    • Wait, how do I remove the "new messages" thing?63.224.202.1 17:41, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
      • Never mind, it's a bug. 63.224.202.1 17:41, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
You are actually more anonymous when you have an account, because now your IP address is visible to everyone. For more information on this topic, please read Wikipedia:Why create an account?
If your IP changes from time to time, you might just get an IP address from your ISP that was previously blocked because someone vandalised with it. If you'd create an account, we could recognise you in the future. Just a tip ;-)
If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask them here or on my talk page!
