[edit] Welcome
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
Here are some other hints and tips:
- I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
- When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.
If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on [[user talk:my Talk page|my talk page]], or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome!
Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 18:51, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking notice of what I have done so far. Having used Wikipedia for a couple of years, I have recently though that it would a good idea to lend a helping hand with this valuable resource. As I am still new at this, and am not yet comfortable writing whole articles, I am primarily trying to work on editing and wikifying random articles from this list (mostly stubs). Creating non-wikified (or poorly wikified) content seems to be a common problem with new folks like me, so trying to wikify existing content listed as being in need of help seems to be a good way of learning the ropes. I have also found this to be a fun way to learn new things too!
- If anyone has any specific concerns with items I have worked on, please let me know. I am making it a practices to look over my log, and going back to articles I recently contributed to, in order to see if others have had come behind and fix things I've done. For example, today I discovered I was not paying close enough attention to the description found on a category I had been adding to a type of article I had been working on, but lesson learned (thank you Gadget850 for fixing my mistake). --63.224.140.19 20:51, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
| | This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
