From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Inventory. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites that you are affiliated with, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.

Please note that being non-commercial is irrelevant. Only self-promotion matters. As your IP range has only participated at Wikipedia by adding links to inventory-management.de and advance-planning.eu, this is very clearly promotional activity. Please stop, and note that your sites have been noted as persistent promotional links and the database is being monitored for their presence. — Saxifrage 02:39, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

I don't think you understood. Wikipedia may not be used for self-promotion. By insisting on adding this link, you are acting like someone who has a personal stake in seeing this link all over Wikipedia. This is unacceptable. Wikipedia is not for promotion. If there are other links that seem promotional to you, then that does not allow you to add more links that are promotional. We will take care of the other links in good time as we see fit.
Finally, if you believe you have useful material to contribute, please add it directly to the article. Links are not useful—raw text is useful. If you don't want to release your information to Wikipedia for use in our articles, that is your perogative. It remains that we are uninterested in links and primarly want more content. — Saxifrage 03:26, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Self-published books

Just so you know, print-on-demand books and other vanity press publications are not accepted as appropriate further reading or references at Wikipedia. — Saxifrage 03:44, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Also note that as Horst Tempelmeier is involved in POM, which is the company associated with advance-planning.de and www.inventory-management.de, this is also considered self-promotion and will not be allowed. — Saxifrage 03:49, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Saxifrage: Self-published books

You don't know what you are talking about. The book is a scientific book. Look into the table of contents. If you aren't able to understand the topic then you should not behave like bi brother in the wiki area of supply chain management. Stupid! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.143.74.107 (talkcontribs)

Please behave civilly and refrain from attacking other editors (because it's policy).
Print-on-demand presses are generally considered at Wikipedia as not counting as "published" at all. However, I am aware that some textbooks and such are so low-volume that print-on-demand is the standard for these. Perhaps this is the case with this book. However, to allow it on those grounds would require making an exception based on the book in question being highly valuable to the encyclopedia. This is not the case. This is a book published by a someone with an affiliation to the consulting company you are trying to promote at Wikipedia. I notice that you didn't bother adding information about this book until I told you your links would be removed on sight. I have to assume that you are trying to help the encyclopedia, but you are making it very difficult to believe this when your only activity is promoting your own self-interests. We are not interested in being an advertising platform (for non-commercial or commercial interests, it doesn't make a difference), and your anger at not being allowed to abuse the encyclopedia for personal gain reflects on your position worse, not better. — Saxifrage 16:39, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
