The point of view in the song is from a man being told by his lover that it's just not working between them, she can tell he's unhappy, so she gives him at least 50 ways to leave her and make it seem like it's of his own volition.

Am I the only one who's ever caught that?

I recall a suggestion that some of the names were based on important figures in Marvel Comics in the 1960s - Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Roy Thomas. Anyone else here that ? Or do you think it is just coincidence ? -- Beardo 23:10, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
