Suggest revising the closing paragraph to acknowledge 4th AD's 14 years of Cold War service in Germany, its longest period of activation, as follows:
"The Division was reactivated in 1954 at Fort Hood Texas and was deployed to Germany in 1957 with headquarters in Göppingen. There it remained until final inactivation in 1971, when it was redesignated the 1st Armored Division."

I agree!!! My father was in the 4th AD from 1957-1959. He took basic training at Ft. Hood and then the Division was moved to West Germany. He spent the remainder of his enlistment at Erlangen. I still have his old Ike jacket with the 4th AD crest on the shoulder and SP4 insignia in the new "Army green" that didn't match the color of the Ike jacket, as well as his "yearbook" from basic training and his overseas cap with light-blue Infantry braid.--MarshallStack 03:39, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
