The mission of the 49th Special Troops Battalion is to provide Command and Control, for the operational training and deployment readiness of a Mortuary Affairs Company (54th Quartermaster Company), Field Service Company (16th Quartermaster Company) and a Petroleum Liaison Detachment (3d Quartermaster Detachment). The unit is also tasked with supporting Peacetime and Wartime Contingency Missions.
