[edit] Naming

1. The mechanism shown in the picture was not correct. In the nucleophilic reaction pathway is no appearence of a tetrahedral intermediat. 2. This mechanism is accepted for a variety of anhydrides!! Not only acetic anhydride. 3. A better picture of the reaction mechanism will come up soon.

Shouldn't "dimethylamino" be in parens?

Is it "N,N-Dimethyl-4-pyridinamine"?

Yes There are several names for this compound get IUPAC to give you the 100% correct one! Even than the 4-Dimethylaminopyridine will be the name everybody will have in his head!--Stone 08:08, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
