[edit] Caveats
The hardcoded quotation marks ‹ and › result in visual gibberish on old browsers. The proper tags for short inline quotations would be <q> and </q>, but unfortunately that's not yet supported by the Wikipedia software.
The idea of these XHTML tags is to reflect preferences of the user wrt quotation marks - typically depending on the language and supporting at least one level of nesting.
