[edit] Myasnoi Bor

Had Erickson done more research he would have found out that the area is known as "Death valley" to this day [1]. However, the Army was not destroyed, or there would have been a 2nd formation Army.--mrg3105mrg3105 If you're not taking any flack, you're not over the target. 22:48, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Frankly Mrg, the wording of your statement suggests you've never seen Erickson's voluminous references and sources sections in either of Road to Stalingrad or Road to Berlin. It should be available pretty freely at libraries in Australia; might be an interesting different view for you on events that you do obviously know well. Statements that suggest 2 Shock was 'destroyed' are common: Glantz says the same thing - actually says it was destroyed twice - in his forgotten battles paper now accessible via the main talk page. I've read the book in the 80s. Maybe you have a new edition. I have not opened it for some years, certainly not for a decade. --mrg3105mrg3105 If you're not taking any flack, you're not over the target. 01:11, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately for Soviet studies, Erickson's dead. There will not be any new edition. Buckshot06 (talk) 02:51, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
I knew he was dead. Sometimes re-edited works are released by publishers, and I do see that a new edition was released last year.--mrg3105mrg3105 If you're not taking any flack, you're not over the target. 03:25, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
