[edit] Sam Sullivan
The reason I have reverted your additions to the Sam Sullivan article is because most of that information has little to do with his notability, i.e., the reason he merits an encyclopedia article in the first place. There is indeed room to expand the article; Sullivan has been a public figure in Vancouver for many years, he is the mayor of a major city, has provoked substantial controversy, and has a major physical disability that hasn't prevented any of the above. Going into excessive detail about his personal life and challenges related to his disability overwhelms the article and overshadows his public life, accomplishments, and notability. This material would be appropriate in a book-length personal biography, and I imagine much of it was covered in the NFB film, "Citizen Sam," but it's not appropriate for an encyclopedia article.
If you feel strongly that this material should be included and disagree with my reversion, please discuss it on the article's talk page. If you and I cannot reach an agreement as to what should be included, the proper cours of action is to solicit the opinion of other editors to break any deadlock. Edit warring over this is counter-productive. Also note that there is a "three-revert rule", under which a user may be blocked for reverting an article more than 3 times in a 24-hour period. bobanny 02:52, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
