Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions.

Currently, you are editing anonymously. You can continue to do so. You are not required to log in to Wikipedia to read and write articles, but doing so will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address (yours is 24.189.38.91). There are many benefits for logging in to Wikipedia.

Please note these points:

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, ask me on my Talk page – I will answer your questions as far as I can! Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia.

P.S. Please do not include text in articles that state that the article should not be changed. These will invariably be removed. As stated on EVERY page edited in Wikipedia: "If you don't want your writing to be edited and redistributed by others, please don't submit it." I hope you choose to register for a permanent account. You've made some great contributions!! Regards, >: Roby Wayne Talk • Hist • E@ 06:42, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Comments regarding Billy Staples page

Thanks for your note on my talk page. I believe the comments that you are referring to were from a persistent vandal to the Jesus article.

With regard to the Billy Staples page, please understand that Wikipedia is not a web hosting service for individual web pages. The Billy Staples article is contained within Wikipedia because it is believed to have encyclopedic content and must be presented in a neutral point of view. Being the subject of the article, of course you have a wealth of knowledge that can be included in the page. However, you must also understand that no one owns any page on Wikipedia, save administrative pages and, by convention, user pages. If you wish to create a page solely dedicated to whatever information you want to include, consider creating a user account. You can basically post anything you want there and if anyone changes it without your permission or not to your liking you can revert it.

So, I can understand how you would be upset with individuals misrepresenting information that you have first hand experience with ;-). If you do not like how the edits are being made to the article, the first place to take this up is at the article's talk page. If you are still having trouble convincing other editors from changing factual information, the next recourse would most likely be mediation or arbitration. You can also voice your desire to have the page protected. Once protected, no one, including you, would be able to edit the page.

In any event, I sincerely recommend that you sign up for a user account. You can use any username that you wish to keep your identity confidential. In fact, using a username masks the IP address from all but a few select developers. IP edits are sometimes discounted by editors. I find a lot of great contributions are made by anonymous editors and they often obtain user accounts to lend credibility to their updates.

If you are still having troubles with the article, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to help. Regards, >: Roby Wayne Talk • Hist • E@ 00:02, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

I forgot to mention...please sign all comments left on talk pages (including user and article namespaces) with ~~~~ (four tildes). This will add your user name (or IP) and date/time so others will see the updates. Thanks! >: Roby Wayne Talk • Hist • E@ 00:10, 28 October 2005 (UTC)
