Please stop removing "Spectra" from the Dyneema page. The article is about the substance, not the marketing name or product. The article clearly says "The Honeywell product is sold under the brand name Spectra. Though the production details will undoubtedly be different, the resulting materials are comparable. This article refers to both materials by the name Dyneema." Wikipedia is not for advertising or promotion. — Saxifrage ✎ 22:49, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Please stop. Wikipedia is not for promotion. Abuse of Wikipedia's resources can result in banning. If you feel you are justified in your edits, you need to discuss them. Here or at Talk:Spectra or Talk:Dyneema are all good places to discuss. — Saxifrage ✎ 22:59, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Spectra vs Dyneema
Thanks for discussing. If you would like to see the distinction made in Wikipedia between Dyneema and Spectra, some references would be useful. Controversial changes made without reference to sources that support those changes tend not to "stick". Since "any chemist" does not describe our readership, could you please provide some references that establish the difference between Spectra and Dyneema? If you need some help determining if a reference is a "reliable source" that satisfies the encyclopedia's reliable sources guideline, I can help with that.

OK - thanks. No I am not user 2006 - but not surprised there are others since the issue came up in an body armor discussion today. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.149.133.34 (talk • contribs)
- Ah, that would explain why similar edits were made recently by that user. Well hopefully it will bring a bunch of knowledgeable people to the page. For my own curiosity, I was under the impression that both Spectra and Dyneema were olefins? How are they different? — Saxifrage ✎ 23:40, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
