Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia, as you did in Bougainville. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links as long as the content abides by our policies and guidelines. See the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. Hello - the primary reason I removed your link was because it was spammed across many articles. Please refer to WP:SPAM, specifically the section "how not to be a spammer". That section explains how it is best to avoid adding "bare" links to many articles, and to avoid adding links to websites that you are affiliated with (due to neutrality and point-of-view concerns).
However, if you truly feel that your link is useful for a particular article, the accepted practice is to mention the link on the article's talk page, and allow other non-affiliated editors discuss the link. If the editors agree that the link should be included, it then has the weight of consensus (an important foundation of this project) to back it.
I hope this explains my reasoning for removing the link. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let me know --AbsolutDan (talk) 21:43, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] www.c-r.org

Please stop. Your mass inclusion of links is not appropriate. If you feel a removed link should be added to an article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it yourself. Note also that the References section is reserved only for citing resources which directly contributed to the article content. Femto 12:38, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

In addition to what Femto says above, I must emphasize that it is not appropriate to add links to websites that you own, control, or are otherwise affiliated with -- even if the site is non-profit. This guideline is meant to ensure neutrality; being affiliated with a site, one naturally believes that the material on the site is useful, however it may conflict with Wikipedia guidelines regarding external links (WP:EL and WP:SPAM). For example, it may not be considered a reliable source.
Please do not continue to add c-r.org links to multiple articles; instead use an article's talk page if you feel a link is useful to that article - if it truly is, other editors will certainly agree there, and the link can then be re-added. Also, are you the user Dr.peter? If so please remember to log in when you edit - otherwise it looks like I'm talking to 2 different people here. Thanks --AbsolutDan (talk) 12:49, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
