I appreciate your insight; but regardless of what the correct Greek pronunciation is, it's still pronounced "mar-KAY-kis" by the Orioles' broadcasters and announcers. The audio portions of his plays in the Orioles' top plays archive are done by the Orioles' announcers, as well as some other teams'. They consistently use the pronunciation "mar-KAY-kis". There are probably quite a lot of European names that are modified or pronounced differently in the US, so I just went by what the broadcasters are using. I think the broadcasters are instructed on how the players want their names pronounced, with media guides and similar resources. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 02:59, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
