User talk:212.219.83.101

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

School IP address Attention:

This IP address, 212.219.83.101, is registered to Lancashire Grid for Learning (UK) and may be shared by multiple users of an educational institution. If the institution uses proxy servers, this IP address may in fact represent many users at many physical computers.

For this reason a message intended for one person may be received by another. Similarly an innocent user may be blocked for another user's vandalism. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. In some cases you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to fight vandalism; if so, please read our advice on this situation.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider a soft block with the template {{schoolblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.

Note: In the event of persistent vandalism from this IP address, anonymous editing may be disabled for up to 1 year at a time. Abuse reports may also be forwarded to your school administration for investigation.
School staff who want to monitor vandalism from this IP address can subscribe to a web feed of this page in either RSS or Atom format.
This IP address has been repeatedly blocked from editing Wikipedia in response to abuse of editing privileges.
Further abuse from this IP address may result in an extended block.

[edit] Repeated blocking

As a user of this IP address that is shared by several schools across Lancashire, I feel that it would be better if this address was permanently blocked apart from edits from registered users, which would prevent the vandalism that causes the repeated blocking --Jawr256 13:51, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

I am a student at one of these schools, and feel that it would be better if the Ip adress was permanently blocked from editing, as most of the people who use wikipedia from this Ip address have no idea what Wikipedia is about.Phalanxia 13:55, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Also, due to a school filter at my school, we cannort access the sandbox, so it is impossible to experiment with editing at my school. Phalanxia 13:45, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

I'd agree with that earlier comment. This IP address is shared by most of the schools in Lancashire and I pretty much guarantee that all the editing you will get from unregistered users is going to be nonsense at best. Give a permanent block to unregistered users at least, save yourself a lot of hassle. Everyone I have seen clicking edit page and meeting the block is someone you wouldn't trust to tie their own shoe laces.

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image talk:Mars symbol.svg

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Buxbaum666 (talk) 15:11, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
