[edit] Delta Sigma Theta

Why is DST put as a Social sorority when they are a service sorority! (read about it)

All fraternities/sororities which consist of a single gender are known as social fraternities. Service fraternities consist of both genders, according to Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities. miranda 19:28, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Welcome

Miranda, DST is a sororityof service. Please refer to the webiste attached. Though single gender sororities are considered Social according to manual of american college fraternities. DST is part of NPHC and has labeled their organization as a sorority of service! http://www.stillman.edu/stillman/GreekOrg/dst.html

Per Title IX, DST is not a "service" sorority, regardless of how much volunteering they do or what a chapter decides to label themselves as (chapter pages are notoriously not reliable sources). What does DST being part of the NPHC have to do with their classification as service/social? That does not trump Baird's Manual nor US Law, so the classification of "social" stands. If you want DST to be a Service Sorority, then they must become a co-ed organization. That is something that you would need to take up with DST's Grand Chapter rather than Wikipedia, thoughJustinm1978 (talk) 20:54, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Please go to Grand Chapters website, as they refer to the sorority as a sorority of service. The Grand Chapter themselves say it on their webpage. Wouldn't you give the history that the Incorporated Sorority goes by? Check the website and FYI chapter pages must follow DST Grand Chapter guidelines meaning they refer to info on the grand chapter page when they put it on their chapter webpage.

[edit] Delta Sigma Theta

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages by deliberately introducing incorrect information, as you did to Delta Sigma Theta, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. You keep adding that DST is a "service sorority", yet you continue to ignore the Template:Infobox Fraternity guideline which clearly states that the classification is to be based on Baird's. Please provide a cite that shows how DST is a "service sorority" in the United States under the auspices of Title IX and Baird's Manual. Simply saying "go to the grand chapter page" is not enough. DST can say they're a service sorority all they want, but in order for them to actually be a service sorority, they must be co-ed. The law is very clear on that. and that overrides anything the Grand Chapter has to say. Please do not revert this again. Justinm1978 (talk) 00:48, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
