I have reported you to an admin. Rarelibra 19:06, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

How is it possible for another commercial site to remove my link and still be allowed to retain theirs?

Hi. It isn't another commercial link that's removing your website, it's the above editor on account that it falls bellow inclusion in our external links guideline, WP:EL. As for having other inappropriae links, Wikipedia's position is, basically, that two wrongs don't make a right. You may extrapolate WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS to external links. In short, feel free to note or remove other inapproriate links, but simply because they exist or may be accidentaly retained elsewhere, dosne't mean we permit similar ones in. Hope you found this explanation instructive. Regards, El_C 19:40, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

There seems to be a conflict of interest: http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/members/rarelibra.html and here as well: http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/members/el_chupacabra.html - is this you, El_C?

This is not an instance of "WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS" but rather seems to me to be a user or users attempting to alter wiki content for personal gain.

My edits were not based on membership (you wouldn't know that I am a member of most, if not all, of those forums - including Toyota forums that are non-FJ specific like IH8MUD). My edits were based on the [page discussion] about the excessive amount of external links and corresponding cleanup that occurred. When you attempted to replace the removed link, that is where I kept reverting. Fair is fair - no problem removing the others, but the official FJ (Toyota) link, official TRD link, and documentation resource should (and need to) stay. Rarelibra 19:54, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi again. No, that forum account above is not me; just a coincedence. I agree with your argument that those other two links are inappropriate and I removed them accordingly. Thanks. El_C 19:57, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

I would fully agree with the manufacturer's links remaining as long as ALL forum links are removed. Thank you.

[[This is a tough decision. The purpose of external links is to provide additional resources, and both forum sites probably qualify for inclusion under these two criteria:

3. Sites that contain neutral and accurate material that cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to copyright issues, amount of detail (such as professional athlete statistics, movie or television credits, interview transcripts, or online textbooks) or other reasons.

4. Sites with other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article, such as reviews and interviews.

However both are also commercial sites with potential conflict of interest issues, and both can be deemed to be using the site as advertising, PARTICULARLY if they are "warring" between themselves to keep the other site off the Wikipedia entry.

See "External links to be avoided: 3. Links mainly intended to promote a website."

Overall I think that the non-involved users of Wiki are better off if both links stay up, because they gain access to sites that give them exactly the type of information that External links are designed to give. The question is if the membership of the two sites can behave or not.

I'll save you all the effort, I'm a MyFJCruiser member. Plezercruz 19:58, 12 April 2007 (UTC)]]

From the IP in question: I was perfectly happy leaving every link up until I noticed mine kept being removed. If my link can remain, I'd still be perfectly happy having both links available. I can't speak for other users, however.

There will be no forum links allowed, as per wiki policy, unfortunately. Rarelibra 20:12, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
On a side note, next time anonymous user (ever think about REGISTERING so we know a little about you? All we know is that you are from Athens, GA and you use Cogent as your ISP)... check the talk page of the article, you would have seen that VERY recently there was a discussion and subsequent cleanup of all kinds of excessive links in the article. Now the links will stay as is, without any forum links per wiki policy. Understand this wasn't an edit war, and I don't appreciate the accusation (it is too easy to ASSume, isn't it?). Instead, I was attempting to follow up the talk page. You could have easily checked the talk page instead of continually insisting to create an edit war. Rarelibra 20:15, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

I think you're confusing annonymous guy with Plezercruz. Musashidono 20:32, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
