Talk:2057 (TV series)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I added some content to the page and did some rewording to adjust the flow. The article needs more expansion and to be structured properly. If I get the time I will watch the series again and try to get more important content added. Anachronos 08:17, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] add...
I am not a very encyclopediac writer, but will throw out some things from the series that should maybe be put in. It may be irrelevant and not very Wikipedia like, but that's why I'm here and not editing.
- The body- They showed how insurance companies will track down people for potential fakers or whatever, holographic robotic surgery, building hearts and organs from scratch, using little pellet chips for stimulate brain functions to the body and... that's pretty much it.
- The city- They showed high tech tracking cameras that can relay information, streets up in the sky, holographic storage cubes, and that's all i can remember
- The world- They had active camoflauge, suits that contract and expand to perform CPR, armor that hardens when a bullet hits, space elevators, the space cable that holds the elevator to earth, and the exhaustion of natural resources.

[edit] perturbed
was anyone else disturbed by the 'propoganda' for the insurance companies in the body segment? it wasnt very subtle and kinda creepy. to paraphrase one part they mention that insurance may cost 25% of your earnings but will be worth it because of the miracle cures? really seems like there must have been a lot of health insurance companies with adverts or some other more covert vested interest. anyway just wanted to throw it out there and see if anyone has seen any crticism in print of this?
- I agree, it was quite scary. The series was insanely USA-oriented. First, saying that UHC doesn't exist at all in 2057, and then the obvious thing with the Chinese government being evil, while the US government is (almost) all friendly... Ran4 23:31, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Any sciencey stuff here?
Is there anything in this article that refers to the research in the series...ah no Having the back plot line is all well and good, but in the series it was only used to demonstrate potential scientific achievements in the next 50 years, and thus the article needs this info.
