[edit] Facebook

If you do the math between what Microsoft invested in Facebook and the % stake in the company it was given, it now means that Facebook is worth well over $15 billion. 204.246.237.129

You are absolutely 100% correct on your math. But I never questioned your math. Wikipedia:No original research is one of the principal and major Wikipedia policies. The very first sentence of the policy states:
  • Original research is a term used in Wikipedia to refer to unpublished facts, arguments, concepts, statements, or theories.
"Person or company A invested B amount of dollars so that means that Facebook is worth C amount of dollars" - this sentence qualifies as an unpublished statement and, therefore, violates this very important policy. Even if your statement is true, it has to be verified (per Wikipedia:Verifiability) and cited (per Wikipedia:Citing sources). All 3 of those policies must be followed for an article or a statement within an article to conform to Wikipedia. Your statement, as true as it may be, violates all 3 of those policies. That's why I deleted it. I hope that explains things a little more and I sincerely hope you are not taking this personally. Feel free to ask me more questions if you have any. Thanks for contributing. SWik78 (talk) 21:58, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
