Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, one or more of the external links you added to the page Billie Piper do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Billie Piper. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 12:49, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A note on external links and biographical articles
Hi, I thought I'd just explain rules on external links, particularly in regard to biographies of living people, into which category Billie Piper falls. In the case of policy on biographies, we have the following directives:
- "External links in biographies of living persons must be of high quality and in full compliance with Wikipedia official policies and external links guidelines."
- "Material about living persons available solely in questionable sources or sources of dubious value should be handled with caution, and, if derogatory, should not be used at all in biographies of living people, either as sources or via external links (see above)."
Since a fan forum such as launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/theno1billiepipersclub can be subject to having unverified rumours posted, it's unacceptable on those grounds. Moreover, the guidelines on external links advise to avoid linking to "social networking sites (such as MySpace), discussion forums or USENET". And a fan forum falls into that class.
So, I urge you to please stop re-adding the link. It seems a shame to end up having to report you over such a small thing, when you can simply choose not to push the link on the article. Thank you. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 08:27, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
