2007 Kremlin Cup

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2007 Kremlin Cup was a tennis event on the 2007 WTA Tour and 2007 ATP Tour. It was held from 6-14 October 2007 at Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia. [1]

Elena Dementieva, a previous finalist (twice), was an elated winner in picking up her first Tier I title of the year, and also achieving her first victory over Serena Williams. It was her 8th career title.

Nikolay Davydenko won his only tournament of the year on the men's side. It was his 11th career title, and 3rd time he won in Moscow.

The pair also made sure that Russia continued its success at its principle tennis tournament. At this tournament, Russian men had won 14/18 of the events, and Russian women 4/12; with 2002 being the last year not to feature any Russian finalists.
