The 1st Squadron 4th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army, also referred to as Quarterhorse, 1-4 Cav or Quarter Cav currently serves under the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division out of Fort Riley, Kansas. It is currently deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, and is principally concentrated in the Dora district where it is taking part in Operation Iraqi Freedom V and is currently commanded by Lieutenant Colonel James Crider.
The 1-4 Cav is a light cavalry unit which operates with High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles ("Humvees").
