The numbers were given following this scheme:
1 - First Goalkeeper (Giovanni Galli)
12 - Second Goalkeeper (Franco Tancredi)
22 - Third Goalkeeper (Walter Zenga)
2 to 8 - Defenders in alphabetical order
9 to #15 - Midfielders in alphabetical order
16 to #17 - Flankers in alphabetical order
18 to #21 - Forwards in alphabetical order
