Talk:1984 CART World Series season

Regarding the point systems around this time. I heard once via some online message board way back when that the points system was changed to the 20-16-14, etc. system, but multiplied by 1 for 100-odd mile races, 2 for 200 miles or so, or 3 for 300 on up for 1983 in order to discourage cherrypicking. Then in 1984 they changed it again to the system we're used to, 20-16-14 etc and added the bonus points.

If somebody has more free time than I, you could run these numbers and see if they fit, in which case that would clean this page up quite a bit.
