The numbers were given following this scheme:
1 - First Goalkeeper (Dino Zoff) 12 - Second Goalkeeper (Paolo Conti) 22 - Third Goalkeeper (Ivano Bordon)
2 to 9 - Defenders in alphabetical order
10 to 15 - Midfielders in alphabetical order
16 to 17 - Flankers in alphabetical order
18 to 21 - Forwards in alphabetical order
