[edit] The Old and New this year

It's was Bob Cousy's and Dolph Schayes' last year. Bob Pettit was nearing the end. Many other notable stars from the 1950s NBA were already gone. You could see the impact of newcomers Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West and others now leading the sport. The NBA was clearly heading out of one era and into another new one.
