[edit] Justification for "Fair Use" in three articles

Fair Use in (1) Mobil, (2) Rambler American, and (3) Mobil Economy Run articles:

Though this image is subject to copyright as noted here, the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia’s non-free content policies cover its use, because:
  • The image of this advertisement shows how an oil company supported fuel economy trials.
  • It shows aspects of the promotion mix (marketing campaigns and publicly) as a result of the high fuel efficiency of this automobile.
  • Its inclusion in these articles adds significantly to the subject because the advertisement shows the historic event.
  • The automobile pictured in the image relates directly to the Economy Run performance discussed in the articles and it is historically significant to the Champion Spark Plug and the Mobil Oil companies.
  • It is also highly unlikely that "free" images exist that illustrates the advertising and promotional use of this car's fuel economy by using a particular brand of spark plugs.
