[edit] Controversial edits/talk pages/NPOV

I notice you've recently made a number of somewhat controversial edits to various articles:

Controversy is not necessarily a bad thing, but you really should discuss any potentially controversial edits on the talk pages for these articles first:

Otherwise, you'll just annoy people and get all your edits reverted (as has already happened to most of your work). Even if people disagree with you on the talk page, you'll still have more credibility. That's especially true of any posts that might, in some eyes, violate the NPOV policy found at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. I understand that on a topic like History of Slovakia, just about any edit is going to violate NPOV in someone's eyes, but there's a right way and a wrong way to go about this.

You should identify the nature of your edits in the edit summary box at the bottom of the edit page, for example: "changed 'ceded by Romania' to 'returned' - the term is better because...". Otherwise, you look like you're being sneaky, reducing your credibility.

Also, I suggest you get your own user account. Editing with an IP address also makes you look sneaky. Unsummarized edits by users with anonymous IP addresses can be a sign of work by trolls or vandals.

I hope these suggestions are helpful. —Khoikhoi 02:31, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
