Please do not add unhelpful and unconstructive content to Wikipedia, as you did to Welsh language. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Rob Lindsey 09:33, 21 May 2007 (UTC) (

This is not vandalism. Unless Wikipedia interprets truth as a vandalism, which wouldn't surprise me, right? Irish IS more spoken.

You need to provide a documented case that Irish is a more spoken language than Welsh-- that is, that it has more speakers. Given the amount of contention about this on the article page, it would help if you discussed it on Talk:Welsh language and reached a consensus before making any further changes. Note that the article as it stands has figures, and you have not provided any: if you wish to continue with this assertion, please find some figures to back it up. We need to be very clear what we're talking about here, and "most spoken" may be somewhat ambiguous. The claim in the Welsh language article actually refers to the amount Welsh is used (i.e. how many people use it daily). How many people are actually capable of speaking Welsh is a different question, and if we want to compare the number with speakers of other languages, we need to be very clear whether we include anyone with some knowledge of the language, or include only "fluent speakers". Deciding what counts as fluent is another hard problem. A further massive issue is that the sources for speaker numbers vary: censuses ask different questions; people under- and overestimate their own ability, and so on. (I'll copy what I've written to the talk page, where this discussion should be continued.) garik 15:44, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Irish and Welsh

Please stop adding unsourced (and frankly implausible) information about Irish and Welsh to their respective articles. Continuing to do so can be considered disruption and may lead to your being blocked. —Angr 16:12, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
