Talk:18XX conventions

[edit] Other cons with 18XX
- I've seen "at least some emphasis on 18XX" at the World Boardgaming Championships, various GenCons, Dixiecon, the Gathering of Friends, and other big conventions, some of which may have enough non-self-published references to be worth mentioning here; and at some large housecons, which won't meet WP:RS. Perhaps "18XX-centered conventions" should be split off from "other conventions with at least some emphasis on 18XX". Use == around the list's title and === around the list sections' titles. [edit] Reliable Sources
I believe I can get a major newspaper article for at least Mark Derrick's convention since a reporter and photographer showed up last year, but I don't want to go to the effort to dig it up if it isn't going to matter anyway. Ie, even with a verifiable reliable source, is that sufficient notability to merit inclusion? JTamplin 02:34, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the basic WP:V requirement includes "multiple" verifiable reliable sources. If you can also find a WBC major-media article (like the Baltimore Sun one I cited for 2000 in the Diplomacy (game) article) with paragraphs specifically about 18XX, or major-media mention of one of the other cons where 18XX was the featured game (not just one of 100 featured games), then we would have enough. Was one of the WBC pre-cons 18XX-centered? If so, there's likely to be enough press coverage in Games and other pro magazines. Barno 13:27, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- I added two articles for the CRGC convention, and Piere LeBoeuf is looking up published articles for the WBC tournament he has GM'd for the last 7 years. I am a bit confused by deleting this article and then undeleting it, so right now some of this is duplicated in the 18xx article. If this article survives separately, then I will remove the duplicated material from there. JTamplin 15:24, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
