[edit] Is this really an 18th century map drawn by the Chosun Dynasty court?

I know the Korean government website says so, but I think I have a very good reason to doubt. I suspect this map is a Japanese map called 朝鮮與地全図 prepared by 山城屋佐兵衛, 大蔵孫兵衛, and 朝倉屋久兵衛 in 明治八年 (eighth year of Meiji, or 1875), which appears in a a list of references for Dokdo/Takeshima issue prepared by Yuji Fukuhara of the University of Simane[1] (No.1556 p35).

I think I can read the names 山城屋佐兵衛, 大蔵孫兵衛, and 朝倉屋久兵衛 printed on the lower left of this map along with what seems to be their addresses (東京日本橋 (Nihonbashi, Tokyo) and 同浅草(Asakusa, the same city)). In the middle right, there is a note (凡例) section, in which are printed lettes "明治八年十月 大日本 **(illegible) 関口 **(illegible)" at the end. This apparantly shows the year of publication (明治八年十月 = October, eighth year of Meiji) and name (関口 = Sekiguchi) and address (大日本=Great Japan) of the publisher. --Dwy 02:18, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Resolution

It would be very helpful if a higher-resolution version of this image could be provided. -- Visviva 03:11, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
