1895 (Chinese: 1895乙未) is a Taiwanese film based on the Japanese Invasion of Taiwan in 1895 with an emphasis on the Hakka people and their families in the conflict. The film has a limited budget of sixty million New Taiwan Dollars, with roughly half of it provided by the Council for Hakka Affair of the Executive Yuan.[1] The film is currently in production with the theatrical release tentatively scheduled for summer 2008.
