17927 is the defunct ZIP code of Centralia, a borough of Columbia County, Pennsylvania, United States, where an underground mine fire has been burning since 1962. In 2002, the US Postal Service revoked the ZIP code. The extinct ZIP code can be seen stenciled on green park benches all over town. This was done by a town resident in a fruitless attempt to have the ZIP code restored.[1]
