[edit] Canal Street
On User:SPUI/NYCS crossovers you marked Canal Street on the IND Eighth Avenue Line as (from south end only). What do you mean by this? Can only passengers in the southernmost cars use the crossover, or do those in northern cars simply have to walk farther? --SPUI (talk) 21:12, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding link-spamming
I've reverted your edit to Software agent as it appeared to be link-spamming. Please do not add commercial links (or links to your own private websites) to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. If you feel the link should be added to the article please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. If you think I was wrong in reverting this edit, please contact me on my talk page. Thanks, TheJC TalkContributions 19:07, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed content from Rondout Reservoir. Please be careful not to remove content from Wikipedia without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Thank you. [edit] Rondout Reservoir
Thanks for the work and background on the Record story. Very interesting. Having worked in journalism myself I am all too familiar with editors who have agendas. That really struck me as a foolish thing for a media spokesperson to say, and on further thought I will probably take it out of the article soon.
Unfortunately, unless DEP were to put something like that out in a press release, or somewhere on its website, we can't use it as a source (I presume you work for them ... you could always try to make that happen). In the meantime I'll put it on the article's talk page.
As for using newspaper articles as sources, as we often say here, as a tertiary source we merely reflect what has been reported elsewhere. Sometimes you have nothing else but newspaper articles (Try writing about a current event or breaking news story without them, especially since they're online). Historians use them all the time.
Take a look at one of my personal favorites among articles I've worked on, The Miracle at the Meadowlands. That's a sports-related story, and even though I haven't put the footnotes in the level of detail I have in there, the ways in which you see that that play wasn't as much Joe Pisarcik's fault as some people believe today, would have been impossible without going into all those old newspaper articles on microfilm.
Yes, news stories can be unreliable (as a coworker of mine was fond of quoting William Randolph Hearst, journalism is the first draft of history). The idea is that over time other sources will emerge to allow for a broader perspective. Daniel Case 18:41, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

You have shown an interest in the Social Work article. If you are a social worker, you may consider adding youself to the Wikipedians with MSW degrees or Wikipedian Social Workers categories. Welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia! You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but you may wish to create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits. You'll also be able to:
* Monitor changes to pages of interest with your own watchlist; * Create new pages; * Choose your own username, provided it is appropriate; * Customize the appearance and behavior of the website; * Edit semi-protected pages; * Upload images; and * Rename pages.
Feel free to ask me any questions you may have on my talk page. By the way, remember to sign and date your comments with four tildes (~~~~). St.isaac 18:32, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of Sinfonieorchester Basel
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Sinfonieorchester Basel, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Sinfonieorchester Basel seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Sinfonieorchester Basel, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot 15:03, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Eye Guess. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Tags should not be removed from articles unless the issues they are pointing out have been addressed. Additionally, unsourced speculations and guesses are not appropriate Wikipedia content. If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Amanda Burden, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. - editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
