Hi, the recent edit you made to Regina Ress has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. Please do not add the names of individual storytellers to the storytelling or storytellers articles. All such additions will be reverted. Please do not remove templates from an article unless the issue is resolved, which is not the case with the Regina Ress article; few, if any articles link to it and it clearly has been copy and pasted from the artist's website which is a violation of copyrights. [edit] Regina Ress

1) I am not disputing whether Regina Ress is a major figure in the storytelling world. I am simply stating that the article storyteller is not a place to list storytellers. Think of it—-under the article actor would you expect a list of every major figure in the acting world? If you want to create an article titled List of storytellers (like there is a Lists of actors by television series, feel free. In the meantime, people can click on the Category of Storytellers that I placed at the bottom of Ress’s page that contains a listing of storytellers.

2) The first line of the Wikipedia article reads word for word as the first screen of Ress’s ‘bio’ page of her website. Copyright permission is a lot more complicated than just saying “I wrote both of them so there is no violation.” Permission to use copyrighted material must be formally granted, even if you hold the copyright (but in the case of Ress's website, Ress's probably holds the copyright even if you wrote it). Please read Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for more information.

3) Please be aware that all material on Wikipedia is free for anyone to edit. Once you place material in an article, anyone can change it in anyway that they think improves the article. Make sure that you have read the bottom of the page that appears when you are in the edit mode. It states:

"Please note:

  • By submitting content, you agree to release your contributions under the GNU Free Documentation License.
  • If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it.
  • Only public domain resources can be copied without permission—this does not include most web pages or images.
  • See our policies and guidelines for more information on editing."

4) Finally, please always sign your posts to talk pages by typing four tildes(~~~~) at the end of your comment.
